In collaboration with KJLU 88.9 FM, Greta is creating a podcast about drag communities in rural Missouri.

In February 2023, Greta began working with KJLU 88.9 FM to create a five-episode podcast about what drag queen (and king) communities look like in rural Missouri. As drag continues to thrive in mainstream spaces internationally, there are still places near us all where artists and performers are creating that may not be getting this spotlight. In a state where anti-LGBTQ legislation is recurring, drag performers time and time again prove their resiliency.

In mid-March, Greta visited Poplar Bluff, Missouri to attend drag shows at Alternate Universe and conduct in-person interviews.

Details

The podcast series will include five episodes, ranging 50-60 minutes in length. Each episode will highlight one rural community, with interviews from drag performers, owners of venues that regularly host drag shows, LGBTQ allies and others.

Right now, the podcast is in production. Greta is visiting rural communities, attending drag shows and conducting in-person and virtual interviews. Greta will also produce the podcast once the source material is collected.

When will the podcast be available?

Early 2024
